Thank you for helping get Esther home!
Hello,
My name is Christine Fischer.
I am a wife and a mother of 4, a supporter of adoption and a recreational runner. This October I will be running the Army 10 Miler in Washington DC. However, I am running it for a very special reason. I am running it to help bring a little girl home.
Esther is an orphan in Guatemala who was given up for adoption in order that she might have a better life.
Heidi and Jason Schafbuch are currently parents of 3. They have two beautiful daughters and a son Noah who died from Leukemia at the tender age of 7. His death was very hard for all of them, but they are a family of faith and take comfort in the fact that Noah is waiting for them in Heaven. They added another son to their family through adoption from China spring of 07 and now are trying desperately to bring Esther home too.
Unfortunately international adoptions are very expensive. Families often take out loans, or have massive fundraisers to help defray the cost. Jason is a youth minister in Northen Wisconsin and Heidi is a devoted stay at home mom. Like many families these days, they have been hit hard by the economic downturn and find themselves lacking the final funds needed to complete this journey. The formalities of the adoption have been completed, Jason and Heidi are officially the parents of Esther, but it is only money that keeps them from their daughter. If they are unable to raise the funds, this beautiful little girl will be sent to a state run orphanage to live out her life.
You may have received sponsorship requests to support friends or family members who were participating in a walk, run or bike ride for charity. You may have even participated in one of these wonderful causes. I am doing essentially the same thing, only on a more personal, direct level. I am running for one family.
Every single penny donated will go directly to support this adoption.
I have printed the name and address of the adoption agency on the bottom of this letter. They have a website, but are not set up to receive donations on line. Heidi and Jason have decided not to set up a paypal account to receive donations as paypal charges a fee for each transaction, essentially decreasing your donation. So in order to donate, you need to take the extra step to write a check and mail it to

I am asking you to take the extra step, look into your hearts and donate whatever you can.
